As long as you live, you will age--it is inevitable. Although we may never find the fountain of youth, there are foods that have anti-aging properties. Until the fountain proves to be more than a myth, anti-aging foods are a safe and healthy option. Certain anti-aging foods are known to slow down the effects of aging on the human body.

Avocado is a fruit that is a healthy source of monounsaturated fat. Monounsaturated fat helps to reduce the bad cholesterol in the body that can block arteries. Avocado is also good source of vitamin E. Vitamin E, an antioxidant, promotes healthy skin by improving the skin's moisture level and softness. A few ways avocados can be enjoyed are in guacamole or sliced on top of a salad.

Dark berries like blueberries and blackberries contain flavonoids that are powerful antioxidants. These antioxidants help protect the body against free radicals that can cause damage to living cells. Berries also contain vitamin C, which helps boost the immune system. Berries make a great healthy snack any time of day.

Broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage are all part of the Cruciferous vegetable family. These vegetables aid the body in fighting toxins and cancer. Eating these vegetables raw or slightly cooked is the best way to consume them. The cooking process destroys the good enzymes that the body needs.
