How Does Zantrex Work?

Zantrex is a diet supplement that can be taken by men or women. Zantrex utilizes ingredients such as caffeine to boost the metabolism, along with ginseng to enhance blood flow to provide its benefits. Kola nut extract, Yerba mate and green tea also work to make Zantrex a popular diet aid. Zantrex is available in many nutrition stores and is safe for everyday use, although it is not without its reported side effects. The product can be purchased online and contains natural ingredients. It is ephedra-free and is packaged in an easy-to-use supplemental form.

Active Ingredients

There are many stimulants in Zantrex, the primary one being caffeine. Other ingredients listed in Zantrex are:
Green tea. This is an antioxidant that controls harmful free radicals in the body. It can also block cancer-promoting carcinogens and ultraviolet light. Green tea contains polyphenols that are shown to promote weight loss through enhanced expenditure of energy.
Damiana. This stimulant is used to treat depression and headaches. Some also use this to treat impotence and sterility that are associated with anxiety, but this stimulant is not recommended for sufferers of diabetes or Parkinson's disease.
Schizonepeta. This Chinese herb promotes sweating and has also been used to treat colds and flu. Schizonepeta has also been used to treat some forms of inflammation.
Ginseng. This herb helps normalize bodily functions, reduce stress, and increase energy levels. It has also been shown to preserve muscle mass, while stimulating the immune system and aiding in the relief of male impotence.
Maca root. This is another form of ginseng that can increase sexual endurance, the ability to handle stress and an increase in physical stamina.
Kola nut. Kola nut is also another stimulant similar in nature to caffeine.

Side Effects

With a product as reliant on stimulants as Zantrex is, there are side effects associated with this product, including anxiety, sweating and nervousness, nausea and diarrhea, stomach ache, increased heart rate, higher blood pressure, loss of appetite, increased urge to urinate, and "crash" fatigue once the product dissipates. The caffeine in Zantrex acts as a diuretic that draws water from muscle tissue. Many of the product's ingredients are stimulants that can exhaust the body's metabolic system.

Claims

The Zantrex-3 website claims the product is a fat burner that can deliver rapid weight loss, boosted energy and 546% more weight loss than its nearest ephedra-based competitor. Those claims are unsubstantiated, and the website offers no clinical data to reinforce its claims. There is an explanation on the official Zantrex website that the product has not been tested in comparison with any other diet or exercise programs.
